BANDIPORA : The residents of Gulshan Abad watapora area of Bandipora are up arms against Bandipora administration for failing to remove Jio tower which allegedly poses serious health complications to the people.
Locals said that the Reliance JIO mobile tower is installed in Watapora close to a forest hut, dispensary and handloom office, besides number of residential houses and agriculture land is in surroundings.
“We opposed the installation of mobile tower in residential area from the very beginning. Even we have raised objection over it before the district administration but nothing was done”, locals said.
They said that the administration is putting people’s health on risk by allowing these mobile towers in residential areas.
Irked by the callous attitude of the administration, the residents of Gulshanabad Bandipora asked as per the rule, mobile tower cannot be installed in 500 meter radius of schools, hospital and public park adding that how come our official then do that.
They said that the radiation from mobile tower will cause health problems, which they cannot bear.
They are demanding immediate removal of the tower from the area. Meanwhile residents appeal PDP General Secretary Advocate Nizamuddin Bhat who hailing from same area and MLA Bandipora Usman Majid to look into the matter for the betterment of general public.
When contacted Tehsildar Bandipora, he said, “We will try to solve the matter as soon as possible”.
