Stages protest, demands killers to be booked

SRINAGAR: A family of two persons who were allegedly killed by renegades in 2014 over a land dispute in Seloo Sopore of north Kashmir stages a protest demonstration in press enclave at Srinagar Today.

The protesting family members including women, children holding the photographs of deceased in hand, demands the arrest of the accused.

The family members and relatives of deceased said that the deceased Dr Nazir Ahmad Naikoo was M. Phil and Dr Shabir Ahmad Naikoo who was a dental doctor were killed by Mehraj Din Khan alas Raj Khan of Mandiji Sopore. They said that the accused was a renegade who killed both cousin brothers on 20, June in 2104 over a land dispute.

They said that they have been deprived of justice since 2014 into the killing of their loved ones. The family members are seeking justice by arresting the accused and punishing him as per law.  Family members said, “That day we were having a dinner when outside a huge number of army started firing on our house in which the duo were killed”.

Manzoor Ahmad Naikoo, brother of one of the deceased said, “It was Raj Khan along with STF, SOG and ARMY who entered our house, fired indiscriminately on us and killed our two family members “.

He said, “We had recognized clearly Mehraj Din Khan when his face mask fell down on ground while running away after firing. We had clearly seen him”.

Protesters said that the Mehraj was even under police lockups for a month but the case was hushed by police adding he was released.

“They alleged that they have not been given justice neither supported by anyone. They added that whenever they sought help from any authority the pleas falls on deaf ears.

Shabeena Naikoo sister of Dr Shabir Ahmad Naikoo one of the deceased said “we are waiting for culprits should be booked for the grave crime they have committed. Dr Shabir was the lone bread earner for our family” she added while tears brimming on her face.

They appealed Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehooba Mufti to intervene into the case so the justice will prevail.
