SRINAGAR : All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman on international mother’s language day said that language had always played vital and central role in glorifying the civilized societies.
Geelani said that different languages serve as great signs and symbols from Almighty Allah and It is a social movement built on the spirit to defend the rights to write in one’s mother language.
Referring to Kashmiri language, Syed Ali Geelani said that importance of Arabic, Urdu, and Persian can’t be ignored and any kind of ignorance or negligence towards these languages can prove disastrous for our specific Muslim identity. Geelani said that Kashmiri language was deliberately ignored and thus it is lagging far behind.
“State has remained under foreign occupation since long and as such all political social economical including Kashmiri language remained unnoticed for long periods”, he said.
Geelani said that it is educated class that nourish languages however we were unfortunate that our state was occupied by occupants and as such we were treated as slaves and with the result we failed to produce sheikh Noor u din wali (ra) like saintly and learned men. He was a man with mission who for divine purpose and religious teachings used Kashmiri language as a key media, said Syed Ali Geelani.
Mother tongues will serve not only to encourage linguistic diversity and multilingual education but also to develop taste for promotion of ethical values in society, said Syed Ali Geelani.
Commenting over the fast pace and present day scenario, Syed Ali Geelani said, that though literacy rate has touched its heights, however our intellectuals, writers, poets are still rhetoric about so-called progressive literature and restricted Kashmiri languages to romantic poetry and factionary work only. Languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our rich heritage, said Syed Ali Geelani
In his appeal to authors, scholars, poets and writers he urged to contribute for revival of religious identification, moral values, and rich social tradition and use this language for glorifying & promotion of resistance movement.
