SRINAGAR : Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Ishfaq Jabbar who is the senior leader National Conference alleged that the most of the projects initiated and approved in time of Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah are being deliberately ignored.

He said that especially Ganderbal Power project was approved during the times of Omar Abdullah adding that since two years have passed, it is lingering on. He said that the government is deliberately ignoring the previously initiated projects in Kashmir.

Jabbar told that despite Kashmir is reeling under huge power crisis the successive government is reluctant to do pending proceedings. He said, “I smell there is some political gimmick behind this”.

While commenting on the issue of poor transmission lines and erratic power supply in Ganderbal Jabbar said, “it is fact that Ganderbal has been long denied from proper power supply.

Jabbar asked government to keep at least two workshops available in Ganderbal, where the transformers can be repaired in a stipulated time frame.

He said whenever any transformer develops any technical snag; it takes lot of time to Ganderbal residents to take that to Pampore for repairing. He said there is need of up gradation of power lines and need of replacement of all damaged transformers but Ganderbal people have been always ignored.

Jabbar added that during Omar led government many Unani and government hospitals were established, but due to lack of interest of current regime all the projects are lingering. He said the current regime is deliberately doing these delaying tactics for their political interests.

According to officials, the New Ganderbal which is coming up at around Rs 1000 crore would have around 11-km tunnel and the cost of each megawatt would be roughly Rs 11 crore.

Worth to mention that, a Mumbai-based construction company had won the bid for the power project, announced two decades ago in September 2014. However, since then, the Government has failed to clear the allotment.

Sources said that despite the Power Development Corporation (PDC) having cleared all the requisite formalities, the government is delaying allotment of construction of 93-MW New Ganderbal Hydro power Project.

Pertinently, while talking to KP on Monday, Senior Leader National Conference, Ali Mohammad Sagar blames the successive government for ignoring the Srinagar city in all developmental fronts, warns to hit streets if it continues.

Sagar blamed that the people of Srinagar have been continuously ignored by current regime. He said none of the developmental projects have been completed that has added to the woes of inhabitants.

Sagar also alleged that this regime is only playing political gimmicks as there were many projects over started by the previous government but left incomplete by this current regime. He said that the Habbak Child Care Hospital, the foundation stone of which was laid years before still remains incomplete.
