SRINAGAR : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Altaf Bukhari was today inducted into the cabinet as Minster for Education replacing Name Akhtar.
Bukhari took oath in Jammu at Rajbhavan in presence of the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Governor N.N Vohra.
Pertinently Bukhari was earlier dropped from the cabinet berth after the death of Former Chief Minister Late Mufti Mohammad Syed following a controversy within the party. Bukhari was given R&B Ministry during the Mufti’s tenure.
However, Naem Akhtar was given Public works. The other Ministers given portfolios are Syed Rehman Veeri who was given charge of Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and parliamentary.
Meanwhile PDP General Secretary Nizamudin Bhat has hailed the induction of Altaf Bukhari in the cabinet of Mehbooba Mufti.
In a statement issued here Bhat said that Bukhari is a popular public representative who contributed to public satisfaction in areas of development both as MLA and as a Minister in the cabinet of Mufti Mohammad Syeed.
He said that Bukhari has enough experience, will and commitment to serve that public interest and he will surely do more in his extended role.
Bhat said that Bukhari’s induction in the ministry will facilitate good governance and will also augur well for the party through his keen desire to contribute. His dynamism and discipline to reach out to people is an acknowledge asset and we can hope that party will benefit from his contribution and influence in the state.
Bhat said that Chief Minister has reposed tremendous trust in him keeping in view his efficiency to deliver and surely Bukhari will come up to her expectations.
