Srinagar witness restrictions, No Friday Prayers at Jamia Masjid

SRINAGAR :  In view of all Parties Hurriyat Conference chief Syed Ali Geelani’s call for a march to the headquarters of the UN Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), the authorities imposes restrictions in Srinagar to prevent any separatist march.

The heavy deployment of forces at Nowhatta, old city was put in place. The police and paramilitary forces were kept on toes to deal with any law and order situation.

Sources said that two office bearers of Hurriyat Conference moderate faction led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were arrested by police outside the Rajbagh office of the amalgam with banners and placards.

Miwaiz was also placed under house arrest to prevent the march. While lashing out on the authorities on twitter and said, “Shameless ruling regime once again barred Muslims from offering mandatoryFriday prayers at Jami Masjid”.

Meanwhile, Yasin Malik Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief was arrested when he tried to march towards United Nations Office at Sonawar. Sources said that Police arrested Yasin Malik at Saraibala near Mosque of Dastegeer Sahab (RA).
