Galib questions pro-freedom leaders, says they failed
SRINAGAR: A complete shutdown was observed across Kashmir Valley in view of the fourth death anniversary of Parliamentary attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru on Thursday today.
All shops, business establishments were closed while traffic was also affected in the towns of Kashmir valley besides in Srinagar City. The authorities reportedly also suspended Banihall-Baramulla rail service to avoid any incident.
Pertinently the authorities have deployed huge number of security forces across Kashmir valley to thwart protests, processions. All major town especially Srinagar city faced restriction in sensitive areas.
In Sopore people, pro freedom leaders visited the house of Guru situated in Dubghav village of Sopore town to pay tribute to the Guru. The security deployment was put in place to avoid any untoward incidents.
The Galib Guru son of Afzal Guru while talking to the media questioned the separatist’s leader and said, “Have our leaders forgotten what Afzal did for his nation”. He adds, “Our Pro Azadi leaders should take it seriously in order to bring back his belongings back home here in Kashmir.”
Galib alleges that the pro freedom leadership has miserably failed to bring back mortal remains of his father. He said, “They are now not interested in bringing back his belongings too”.
In Srinagar city the Maisuam area which is the hot ballet of the Liberation front was under tight security grid. The roads leading towards the area were sealed with barbed wires besides barricades were also erected by the police.
Meanwhile reports sai that clashes erupted at Main Chowk Sopore between youth and security forces when youth took to streets to stage a protest on eve of Afzal’s death anniversary. The protesters were demanding the mortal remains of the Guru. However, soon after the clashes, police resort to tear gas shelling to disperse the protesting youth.
The shutdown call was given by all separatist groups including Hurriyat Conference faction led by the hardliner separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Jammu Kashmir Liberation front (JKLF) Chief Yaseen Malik.
The strike call was given for today on February 9 and February 11 on the death anniversaries of JKF founder Muhammad Maqbool Butt, respectively.
