The aggrieved students said many of them have been falling sick while studying in the “cold and freezing classrooms.”

“We had written a formal letter to the college principal that there was dire need to provide heating arrangements at the classrooms as it was impossible to teach in freezing conditions but she has not been paying any heed to our complaints,” said a delegation of teachers from Amar Singh college, on the condition of anonymity.
Official sources said there was no shortage of funds for heating arrangements but that the same amount of money was being allegedly swindled.
“There’s no shortage of funds as millions of rupees are available same but it seems that some bander baanth of such funds is taking place. Otherwise providing heating arrangements is mandatory,” said an officer working in the CUS on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said a “secret pact” between the concerned college principals and the CUS officials couldn’t be ruled out. “There offices and staffrooms do have heating facilities in place so the money meant for expenditure on classroom-heating gets swindled,” the sources alleged.
