SRINAGAR : The movement of goods between the two sides of Kashmir on Thursday came to a halt following shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district as reported by a local daily.
The trade authorities in Uri said they have decided to stop the movement of goods between the two parts of Kashmir today.
“Since the area of shelling is close to Kaman Post, we have decided to suspend the trade which was scheduled today,” said as quoted by a local daily SDM Uri, Baseer-ul-Haque.
Two soldiers were injured in the cross-LoC firing yesterday while a residential house and a tin-shed were damaged in shelling in Kamalkote today morning.
The damaged structures belonged to Hakem Ali Mir, resident of Batar Kundibarja Uri, close to the LoC.
An eye witness who resides in the vicinity said the shelling started again Thursday morning at 9:30 am and continued till 11am.
