SOPORE: Residents of Adipora village of Sopore town in North Kashmir are deprived of Aadhar cards resulting into the inconvenience in legitimate affairs.
Resident of the area said that the Aadhar card, which is mandatory for transferring direct cash, subsidies to beneficiaries and acquiring other services, related to the day to day life is yet to be issued by the concern authorities.
They said despite repeated pleas to the authorities, nothing has come at the avail other than false assurances. “It has been more than a year now, the government officials of concerned department must issue such an important card. “Wherever we go, be it the bank, to avail subsidies, apply scholarships or to apply any service, the Aadhar card is required”, said Javeed Ahmad Mir, a local resident.
They demand that the Aadhar cards must be issued to the village immediately to avoid inconvenience to the residents. When contacted, Sub District Magistrate Sopore Bashir Ahmad told PTK, “We are aware of the issue, but right now the adhaar process is temporarily stopped by the Government of India. Once process would be resumed, we will send a team to dispatch the Aadhar Cards.”
Pertinently, Government of India has made it mandatory for people to have Aadhar cards. (PTK)
