PDP urges Govt. to make proper arrangements for Eid Milad-ul-Nabi

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday urged the state dispensation to ensure adequate arrangements for the devotes who would attend the Congregational prayers in connection with Eid-ul-Milad-ul-Nabi (SAW) falling on November 21.
In a statement to KNS, PDP Vice President Abdul Rahman Veeri said that lakhs of devotees are about to attend the congregational prayers at various shrines and mosques across Kashmir valley and that the government must make proper arrangements for them during the Urs days.
He added that besides other revered shrines and mosques, large gatherings are expected at south Kashmir’s Khiram, Sirhama, Kabamarg and Srinagar’s Hazaratbal wherein special prayers will be held.
Veeri said that the government should make arrangements related to provision of transport, drinking water supply, cleanliness and sanitation, medical facilities and other basic amenities in and around shrines and mosques in Kashmir valley.
The PDP Vice President underlined the need for the availability of essential commodities particularly rice, sugar, flour, K-oil and LPG during the Urs days.
He further asked the Governor administration to ensure that uninterrupted water and electricity supply to the mosques and shrines during the Urs days is made available by the PDD and PHE departments. Besides that, Veeri urged the administration to make sure that proper sanitation and cleanliness is ensured and regular lifting of garbage from the areas wherein huge congregations are expected is done on priority.
He also asked the department of health to establish adequate medical camps particularly in the areas were a huge gathering of devotees is expected to congregate. He further urged the government to press into service the Fire and Emergency department and put in place an adequate number of fire tenders along with men at the shrine premises and also in town.
Veeri also appealed to the state administration to keep sufficient passenger transport available at all prime spots during the Urs days. (KNS)
