SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education’s (JKBOSE) decision to reschedule the 12th class English subject examination in the backdrop of the recent civilian killings in Kulgam, has left scores of students in worry.
“The examination of English paper which was scheduled to be held on October 22 and was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances in the valley shall now be held on November 02 (Friday),” the spokesman of the department said.
The sudden postpone has left the class 12 students, especially for those wanting to make a career in the medical batch, in serious worry. As per the exam timetable, a four day holiday – November 1 to November 4 – was given to the students to prepare for the biology exam scheduled November 5. “Biology is a vast subject. By rescheduling the English exam to November 2 is concerning,” says Danish Ilahi, a student of Government Higher Secondary Pulwama.
As per Danish, Biology is an important subject to get an admission in the medical field. “Our career will reflect as per the marks we will score in Biology. Now with the just two days to prepare after the rescheduling, we are now really tensed,” Danish said.
Another student from Baramulla said that “its not possible to attend two paper back to back”. Pertinent to mention, the class 12 boards English paper were earlier scheduled to begin in the 15th November, which was, however postponed because of the civilians killings in Kulgam . Students demands preparation break to appear in examination.
