Army go berserk after IED blast in Pulwama village, Thrash locals in nocturnal cordon

PULWAMA: The attack on soldiers on Thursday night left the locals of Trichal village horrified as according to them they were brutally assaulted, abused and dragged out from their houses by party of soldiers.

Trichal village is barely 2 kilometers away from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. At the entry point of the village there is a bailey bridge where militants detonated a powerful IED on Thursday night. The blast left the Casper vehicle of 55 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army damaged while 7 soldiers were reportedly wounded.

Shortly after the incident according to villaers soldiers let loose a reign of terror. There are couple of houses near the bridge where the incident took place. “The agitated soldiers wrought havoc and even used iron rods and weapons to target people not sparing women folk as well. The soldiers barged into the houses during late hours,” victims told news agency CNS.

At least 15 victims were brought to District hospital Pulwama. One of the victims has suffered grievous injuries on head as according to him a soldier hit his head with a spade. “Even women were attacked in the dead of the night. Nobody was there to save us from these armed soldiers,” said the victim.

They said after every militant attack, these soldiers target unarmed civilians.

   A doctor at District Hospital Pulwama confirmed that 15 persons including women with injuries were brought to hospital for treatment. He identified these injured as Showkat Ahmed Dar and his parents Ali Muhammad Dar and Raja Bano, Nayeema Bano, Abdul Mateen Mir, Irshad Ahmed Alaie, his wife and mother Wazira Bano and Raja Bano, Basharat Ahmed Alaie, Gulzar Ahmed Bhat, Gousiya Jan, Shafeeqa Bano, Muneeb Ahmed, Saima Jan and Saiqa Jan.

   Three victims Showkat Ahmed Dar, Raja Bano wife of Ali Muhammad Dar and Nayeema Bano wife of Muhammad Azhar Malik alleged that before this incident they were multiple times thrashed by soldiers in past as well.

A police official said they are investigating the matter. (CNS)
