Uri: The inhabitants of Hiler Peernayan village of tehsil Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have expressed strong resentment against Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to repair the defunct transformer.
Locals said that around 50 households of the village are lying under darkness for the last five days. “The transformer turned defunct twice in a month due to some technical snag,” locals told CNS.
“After it was repaired, only after ten days of installation, the transformer again developed a fault and became defunct. It was repaired and installed again but it again got a technical snag on 5th of this month and is lying unattended,” locals said.
They said that nobody from the PDD department bothered to lift the transformer for the repair despite repeated pleas.
They alleged that the PDD men were using substandard material while repairing the transformer which was making it defunct again and again.
Chief Engineer PDD Kashmir, Hashmat Qazi said: “I will look into the matter” (CNS)
