SRINAGAR: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Tuesday took suo-motto cognizance of a road mishap at Ramban that left 22 people dead.
Taking suo-motto cognizance of Ramban road mishap, the HSRC chairperson Justice Bilal Nazki observed that the large number of accidents take place in Jammu and Kashmir, leaving several dead.
“The reports suggest accidents prima facie to be result of lack of supervision by the traffic authorities and also because of the conditions of the roads,” the commission said.
The SHRC chairperson also issued notices to DGP J&K, IGP Traffic J&K and Secretary Public Works department to file their response within six weeks.
The commission has also directed the IGP Traffic J&K to file complete data regarding accidents which have taken place in the State from 1st January, 2018 till date giving details of number of persons killed and injured. (PTK)
