SRINAGAR: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a militant in south Kashmir’s Awantipora area of Anantnag district during the evening hours of Tuesday.
In a statement issued to PTK, the spokesman said that a joint party of forces apprehended a militant identified as Abdul Majid Shah son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah resident of Iqbal Colony Pattan Baramulla.
He said that the militant was travelling in a car bearing registration number DL9CM0213, “He was on way to meet other militants active in the area,” he said.
Adding that arms & ammunition and other incriminating material were recovered from his custody.
The spokesman said that the militant on questioning revealed that he was in touch with the other militants of the area who are planning future strikes.
In this regard a case FIR No 133/2018 under section 7/25 Arms act has been registered in Police Station Awantipora. Further investigation is going on. (PTK)
