A gunfight broke out between the militants and the government forces in Killora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday night.
A police official said that army personnel of 44 RR, CRPF and SOG men laid seige around the Killora village after having received inputs about the presence of militants in the area
As the forces zeored in on a suspected residential house, the hiding militants opened fire on them, triggering a gunfight, said the official.
The firing was intermittently going on both when the reports last came.
Unconfirmed reports said a militant was killed in the initial round of fire. However, there was no official confirmation.
