3 Women among 10 civilians injured in Bijbehara blast

SRINAGAR: At least ten civilians were injured after unknown persons hurled a grenade on forces vehicle in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.

A police spokesman told GNS that suspected militants lobbed a grenade on forces Gypsy which missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside.

The spokesman said that the in the blast ten civilians including a 12-year-old boy and three women sustained splinter injuries.

The minor boy has been identified as Fazal Ahmad son of Mohd Maqbool of Zainpora Shopian is stated to be critical while three other women Daizy Jan wife of Manzoor Ahmad, Rozy Akhtar daughter of Ghulam Ahmed of Hassanpora and Muneera Akhtar daughter of Abdul Rehman Dar of Sangam have also received injuries and have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.

While three women and the minor boy have been referred to Srinagar hospitals for specialized treatment and six other persons who suffered minor injuries in the grenade blast are being treated at a nearby hospital, the spokesman said.

He said that the condition of the minor boy is stated to be critical.

Police have registered a case in this regard and investigation has started into the matter, the spokesman said. (GNS)
