 With telecommuting slowly catching on in India, thanks to the Internet, e-publishing has seen a revolution of sorts in the recent past.  Today, we can see many budding authors, including work-from-home moms and retirees,   taking the ‘content route’ to make money over the Net.

Modern technology has made things much easier at home or office. This is in contrast to the yesteryear when publishing used to be a Herculean task for an author.
Unlike in the past, where an author deciding to write a book  had to go through the tedious process of writing a manuscript, finding a publisher and waiting for that  elusive royalty-money,  its different now for a computer-savvy writer.  Today, all you have to do is, upload your  chosen subjective tests/chapters on a website and lo you are done.
For the uninitiated, e-authors are akin to freelance journalists. They write tests, lectures or other content, or make video-lectures just about anything they know better than others. Then they look to make this content available to all those who want to learn what they are seeking to teach. They look for an online platform or website to host their content on the promise of assured payment.
Some of these e-authors are people already engaged in teaching/coaching in related fields.
If there are e-authors, there also are e-editors whose job is to check the subject and/or language quality of e-content uploaded by the former. Their job is to improve the quality of the content by making it presentable and pleasing.
Your expertise is your qualification. While publishing a book requires you to know something about everything, it’s just the opposite in case of content writing.  Today, websites are looking not for subject-experts but for topic experts or even sub-topic experts who can upload content on any topic/sub-topic of their choice.
At the same time, even if you are working from home, an e-author needs to have some basic skills to do his work efficiently. Some of them are:
* A degree in any discipline
* Reasonable language and writing skills
* Basic computer networking skills
* Ability to work independently
On top of that, you should have a fairly good knowledge of the subject or the topic you are assigned with.
 Content writing is by far the most intellectually satisfying and financially rewarding part-time or full-time career. People have been known to earn tens of thousands of rupees per month through writing/editing/recording of e-content.
All said and done, e-publishing can be a wonderful career option for you.  Whether you choose to work from home or office, it can open a host of opportunities for you.  All you need is  just ignite your  passion  to excel. The Internet-based earning and learning enrich you in every respect.  What can be a better option than making use of your intellectual expertise and making money in the process?
