Srinagar: With Jammu and Kashmir government approved the implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations, the educated unemployment youth in Kashmir expressed dismay over the move saying this amounts injustice with their carrier.
Pertinent to mention here, In a major decision, the state cabinet that met here today under the chairpersonship of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti approved implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations for state government employees and pensioners with effect from January 2016.
The decision would benefit around five lakh employees and pensioners in the state. The financial implications for the implementations of 7th pay commission recommendations would be Rs 4201 crore annually while financial implications on account of one-time arrears would be Rs 7477 crores.
At a time when the business has crippled and unemployment is getting out of control, the voices are saying that implementing Seventh Pay Commission looks all but improper. Mudasir Muran , a handicrafts businessman stated – “The business environment is dead and we are dying under heaps of financial stress as under the burden of loans we are suffocating .The government employees do not have such great output for the economy and society evident from ever growing debt of the state and greater dependence on center. A large chunk of educated youth continue to remain unemployed and no real policy is coming how to accommodate them. On the otherhand, the salaries of govt employees are already huge and incentive after incentive without any concrete output is a matter of concern.”
Inam un Nabi, Socio-Political activist states – “ The seventh pay commission recommendations have been implemented in the state when the realities are negative, the economy is as good as dead and youth are not getting any constructive engagement or vision from the government. When we have scores of educated youth unemployed, no opportunity for doing business the pay commission recommendations looks all but mockery..”
Unemployed youth are also aghast over the government decision of implementing seventh pay commission recommendations.” Thousands of unemployed youth have been continuously witnessing tough times without any hope of betterment as the policy makers and those in governance continue to remain in slumber towards the problems faced by we the unemployed youth . Perks after perks are being showered on the government employees but not much heed is given to improve business atmosphere or provide effective solutions to unemployment.” (KNB)
