SRINAGAR: In yet another bloody gunfight at Khudwani village of Kulgam district in South Kashmir which snatches life of four civilians, a 27 year old youth was killed four day before his marriage.
Sharjeel Ahmad Sheikh of Khudwani who is a tipper driver was reportedly taking bath in a washroom at his home when a bullet hit him on chest.
Sharjeel was immediately shifted to hospital for treatment, but he succumbs on way to the hospital, locals said. Sharjeel, a would-be-groom did never know that the fate has something else decided for him.
According to locals, Sharjeel was scheduled to get marriage on 15th of April this month. He was only bread earner of his family that includes his parents and a younger brother.
The killing of youth triggers pal of gloom in the village besides leaves his family and friends in shock.
Police handout released to press claims that the civilians were caught under cross fire. The three other civilians killing during gunfight and protest were identified as Bilal Ahmad Tantray of Frisal and Faisal Ilahi of Melhoora Shopian and Aijaz Ahmad Palla of Tulkhal. One Army personnel identified as Sepoy S. Gunakar Roy No. 16121860/K was also killed in the encounter according to police.
Moreover 12 persons have received injuries during the operation and are being treated at different hospitals. However militants who were believed to be trapped in the area managed to escape from the spot among one was rescued by the locals.
