Mughal Darbar Bemina Sealed Over Unhygienic Conditions, Expired Food Items

Srinagar: Authorities on Thursday sealed Mughal Darbar Bemina here in Srinagar after a surprise inspection revealed unhygienic conditions, expired food items, and the illegal use of domestic gas cylinders instead of commercial ones.

The crackdown was led by Naib Tehsildar Aleen Ali Sofi, accompanied by police personnel and officials from various departments.During the inspection, officials discovered expired food items, including some with visible fungus, posing serious health risks to customers.

The team also found domestic LPG cylinders being misused in place of commercial ones, a violation of safety norms. Following the findings, the eatery and its adjoining bakery shop were immediately sealed.In addition to sealing Mughal Darbar, the team also inspected various shops in the area, instructing vendors to display rate lists and refrain from overcharging customers, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking on the occasion, Naib Tehsildar Aleen Ali Sofi warned shopkeepers and vendors against selling food items, fruits, and vegetables at inflated prices. He assured strict action against violators, emphasizing that authorities will continue market inspections to prevent any exploitation of consumers. [KNT]
