Kathua: Senior AIP leader and MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed has strongly criticized the authorities over the tragic death of 25-year-old Makhan Din in Billawar, Kathua, demanding a judicial probe into the circumstances leading to his alleged suicide.
During a visit to the bereaved family, Sheikh Khursheed offered condolences on behalf of himself and incarcerated MP Er. Rashid, who had earlier condemned the incident in Parliament. Reaffirming AIP’s stand against human rights violations, he declared, “From Karnah to Kathua, AIP has zero tolerance for human rights abuses.” He also condemned the alleged harassment of locals and activists seeking justice, warning that AIP will not tolerate intimidation tactics. Additionally, he demanded the release of detained youth and the return of confiscated mobile phones, urging authorities to end what he called arbitrary summoning and harassment of residents.
Sheikh Khursheed insisted that the government must announce the probe before the upcoming Budget session of the Assembly to ensure transparency and accountability. [KNT]
