63 injured with pellets, bullets admitted in various hospitals

SRINAGAR: At least 63 people injured with pellet and bullets on Sunday in south Kashmir are being operated in several hospitals of Srinagar. Among these, 35 pellet victims have eye injuries.

Medical Superintendent SMHS Dr Saleem Tak told GNS said they have received 45 persons injured due to bullets and pellets.

 “A total of 39 injured are presently being operated at the hospital among which 35 persons have received pellet injuries in eyes,” Tak said and ruled out the chances of getting blind.

Six patients have already been discharged, he added.

Dr Tak said one among the injured has a serious bullet wound in his abdomen and his condition is critical.

Medical Superintendent of SKIMS Soura Dr Farooq Jan told GNS that they have received 10 persons injured due to pellets and bullets. One namely Iqbal Manzoor of Lasipora, succumbed Sunday evening. Presently, 9 persons are being operated in the institute.

Among the 9 injured, only one has pellet wounds and the rest have bullet injuries, Dr Jan said, adding that the condition of all the injured is stable.

Meanwhile, official sources told GNS that three to four pellet injuries are being operated at JVC Srinagar and nearly 10 at Bones and Joint hospital Barzulla Srinagar.

Sources said that in other hospitals of the south Kashmir, 20 minor injured persons are being treated. (GNS)
