Kupwara: The residents of Langate area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district here have expressed resentment over the continuous closure of all the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) centers in the belt.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the locals said that the centre remained closed since August last year and that no employee has so far joined the duties since then.

The ICDS has failed to make its centers functional in Lanagte belt for over 6 months, leaving the local populace to lurch at large, they said, adding that all the works which were meant to be followed through ICDS centres have come to a grinding halt.

The residents further stated that the ICDS supervisors and workers can be only seen attending monthly meetings at centers.

However, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Nazir Ahmad stated he has no information in this regard.

Nonetheless, he stated that he will look into the matter and strict action will be initiated in case the allegations are proved true. (KNO)
