Srinagar- Four unidentified militants have been killed and one captured alive in the ongoing encounter that broke out in Kiloora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.
State forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kiloora area of Shopian after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened fire at a search party of the forces, who retaliated.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, four militants were killed, the official said.
He said the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants was being ascertained. The operation is on, the official added.
Meanwhile, media reports said that one militant was captured alive during the operation.
