4 drug peddlers arrested in Budgam: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said to have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Police party of PS Magam at a checkpoint established at Wata Magam, intercepted a suspicious vehicle bearing registration number JK05G-2152 with three persons on board, a police spokesman said in a statement issued.

They have been identified as Abid Ahmad Bhat(Driver) son of Ab Majid Bhat, Zeeshan Ahmad Dar son of Fayaz Ahmad Dar and Ahitsham Ashraf Wani @Sahil son of Mohd Ashraf Wani, all residents of Hazarpora Aripanthan. During the search, 315 grams of Charas was recovered from their possession.

They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. On their disclosure, one more drug peddler identified as Amir Ahmed Ganiee @Raja son of Gh Ahmad Ganiee resident of Peth Kanihama was arrested and recovered 360 grams of charas Powder from his possession, police said.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 13/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Magam and investigation has been initiated.

“General public is requested to come forward or Dial 112 with any information regarding drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to Police in eradicating the drug menace from the society,” police said—(KNO)
