SRINAGAR: Three drug peddlers, including the son of a former Sarpanch, were arrested in separate incidents of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.
“Continuing its drive against drug menace, a special squad of Sopore Police comprising of SHO Police Station Dangiwacha and DO Police Post Watergam headed by DYSP Hqrs Rafiabad apprehended a drug peddler Firdous Ahmad Payer son of Ghulam Qadir Payer resident of Anwar Abad Salkoot Kupwara and recovered 10 bottles of Phosphate Hydrochloride Max Coff-T from his possession,” a police spokesman in a statement issued here said.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 83/2018 under section 8/22 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Dangiwacha, he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that he is a chronic peddler and was selling the drugs to the youth of the area, the spokesman said.
In another incident, a police party established a Naka near forest check post in Boniyar following specific information about the movement of the drug peddler along with the contraband substance, the spokesman said.
“At the Naka, one person was intercepted and during his search, a small packet of brown sugar weighing about 30/32 grams was recovered from his procession. He was identified as Shahid Qayoom Khan @ Sarpanch son of Abdul Qayoom Khan resident of Turkanjan Boniyar,” the spokesman said.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 31/2018 stands registered in Police Station Boniyar.
Another drug peddler Burhan Khan son of Syed Khan resident of Gountmulla Sheeri, presently residing at Khojbagh Baramulla was apprehended and brown sugar weighing about 30 grams was recovered from his possession, he said.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 33/2018 was registered in Police Station Boniyar and investigation took up, he said. (GNS)
