3 drug peddlers arrested in Bla, Kulgam: Police

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Baramulla, a police party of PP Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Check Razak Khan Mirgund arrested a drug peddler identified as Shakoor Ahmad Parray son of Abdul Rehman Parray resident of Rambirgarh Srinagar, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency

During the search, 90 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession. He has shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, police said.

Meanwhile, a police party of PP Wussan at a checkpoint established at Goshbugh Pattan arrested a drug peddler identified as Mudasir Hussain Batoo son of Ghulam Hassan Batoo. During the search, 75 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, police said.

“In Kulgam, a police party of PS Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Kaharwat Crossing intercepted a suspicious person who after noticing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Javeed Ahmad Rather son of Abdul Hamid Rather resident of Sungus. During the search, officers were able to recover 120 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Kulgam where he remains in custody,” police said.

Meanwhile in another action, a police party led by SHO PS Devsar during patrolling intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag, who after noticing the police party left the bag and flee from the spot by taking advantage of nearby dense orchards. His identity was later ascertained as Mohammad Ashraf Malik son of Abdul Rahman Malik resident of Malwan, police said, adding that on searching the bag, 5 Kgs of Ganja was recovered. Moreover, efforts are on to effect his arrest, police said.

Regarding the incidents, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been initiated.

“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said—(KNO)
