Delina Baramulla: 3 day Craft Demonstration cum Awareness Programme successfully culminated today. It was a joint venture of Govt Higher Secondary Institute Delina and Handicrafts Service Centre Baramulla.
The programme aimed to acquaint students especially girls about different crafts and economic potential therein. In the first day Handicrafts promotion officers and national and state level awardee artisans informed students about different arts and crafts and gave practical demonstrations too. In the second day students were provided with hands on experience of paper mache, shawl embroidery,
Tila Dozi and other sozini works. Students enjoyed a lot. In the 3rd day Assistant Director Handicrafts Mr Tariq Ahmad attended the programme.
He spoke at length about Handicrafts and role of the department for the promotion of arts and crafts. Worthy Principal Mr Aijaz Ahmad Wani also spoke on the occasion and underscored the importance of such programme.
He impressed upon students to try to be self sufficient in life and be relevant in modern technological world.Some parents of students who knew the crafts also participated in the programme. Assistant Director gave them information about different schemes of Handicrafts department and registered their names on the spot.
Thanks are due to Handicrafts Promotion officer Rubeena Reshi, Carpet Training Officer Ashish Kumar Meena and programme manager Mr Idris Sultan. The artisans who enthusiastically taught students include Mr Fayaz Ahmad and Mr Gulam Hassan Khaja.
Mr Rajesh Ji and Mr Parveen Kumar also deserve thanks.The fruitful 3 day programme was beautifuly coordinated by senior lecturer Qazi Syed Sajad. Mr Haris Hamza,Lecturer on staff also remained active in the programme.
