Anganwadi workers stages protest, threatens hunger strike


SRINAGAR: As hundreds of Anganwadi workers and helpers held a protest march and a sit-in at Regal Chowk today Lal Chowk was brought to a standstill on Thursday.

From last two months, the anganwadi workers have been protesting to demand hike in their monthly honorarium and release of their long pending salaries.

Amid anti-government sloganeering by the protesters, traffic was halted for more than an hour at the busy Residency Road.

Earlier,anganwadi workers under the banner of J&K Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association Kashmir, assembled at Partap Park.

The anganwadi workers threatened to go on hunger strike from 1st of April if their demands were not met. (PTK)
