Youth injured due to pellets post gunfight clashes admitted to SMHS

Srinagar: Two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit were killed and seven government forces men including an officer suffered injuries in a gunfight at Khanmoh area of Srinagar outskirts on Saturday.
Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of army’s 50 RR, SOG Srinagar, SOG Pantha Chowk and CRPF laid a siege today early in the morning near Higher Secondary School at Chopan Mohalla area of Khanmoh.
A gunfight broke out soon after the joint team of forces launched the searches and fired some shots towards the suspected spot, they said.
The militants initially lobbed grenades on the joint team resulting in splinter injuries to seven forces personnel, they said.
The injured have been identified as Sub-Inspector Kushiv Kumar of SOG Pantha Chowk, SgCt Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Cargo Srinagar, Sepoy Gurmeet of 50 RR, Sepoy Pusheb of 50 RR, constable J D Younis Dar of 73 battalion CRPF, constable Suriya Prakash of 82 bn CRPF and constable Sonu of 29 bn CRPF.
All the injured were taken to army’s 92 base hospital, Badamibagh Srinagar for treatment.
A senior police officer also confirmed the injuries and said that the condition of all of them is said to be stable.
“Based on a credible input about the presence of militants in Khonmoh area of District Srinagar, a cordon and search operation was launched today morning jointly by Police and security forces in the area,” a police spokesman said, adding, “As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the militants. The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight,” the spokesman said, adding, “In the ensuing encounter, two (militants) were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter.
A police officer identified one among the slain as Saqib Shafi Dar son of Mohammad Shafi Dar of Arihal, Pulwama. Saqib was active since 4/07/2018. “His body was handed over to his family for last rites after conducting all legal formalities”.
Regarding identity of another slain, the officer said that his identity is being ascertained, however, it is believed that the militant is a foreigner.
A residential house of one Farooq Ahmad Gojri was razed to rubble.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted in the area and government forces resorted to pellet firing in which one person Firdous Wagay son of Abdul Rehman of Khanmoh was injured and he has been admitted to SMHS hospital. (GNS)
