Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling at Badrah crossing on Baramulla-Handwara National Highway intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully, a police spokesman said in a statement issued
During the search, about 32 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Umar Reyaz Bhat son of Reyaz Ah Bhat resident of Kralgund. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, police said.
“Meanwhile, a police party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Manzgam intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully. During the search, about 20 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Nisar Ahmad Lone son of Bashir Ahmed Lone resident of Chowkibal Kupwara. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
