Srinagar: Ganderbal boy Ibrahim Qureshi has yet again won men’s Singles and Doubles titles as well as U/15 age category in recently concluded 29th Kashmir Open held at Indoor stadium.
Organizers while giving details to KNT said that Ibrahim is a shining star of Jammu and Kashmir with tremendous talent and potential to beat top players at National level if coaching and training facilities are available to him in Kashmir.
Ibrahim has representing J&K in many Badminton National Championships organized by Badminton Association of India and School Games Federation of India. Recently National Finals under the banner “Sports for Change” was organized by HCL Foundation of India at Lukhnow in which players from eight states took part in different events and in the final match in U/15 age category, Ibrahim had won defeating finalist from Utter Pradesh in straight sets 21-07 and 21-02. As per prestigious Ranking list issued by BAI, Ibrahim is presently ranked 18th in India in sub junior category.
Prize Distribution Ceremony of 29th Open Kashmir Badminton Championship was held at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar. On the occasion Mrs Nuzhat Ara Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir who distributed prizes among winners was the Chief Guest while as Noor Mohmmad Administrative Officer J&K Sports Council was Guest of Honour.
About 200 players from different Districts of Kashmir participated in the championship, which was organized by J&K Badminton Association under the aegis of J&K Sports Council. (KNT)
