SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) today took out a protest march against the killing of a driver in Kupwara and power woes in the Kashmir valley.

According to the reports, hundreds of NC workers led by General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar took out a march from its party headquarters and headed towards Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

The eyewitness said that the protesters were carrying banners carrying messages like “Stop RSS agenda”, “Stop civilian killings”, and “Provide basic facilities to people”.

They termed the government probe into the killing of Kupwara driver as an “eye-wash”. Asif Iqbal, a cab driver, was killed in army firing in Thandipora village of Kupwara district late Saturday night, locals said.

The NC members also took a dig at the government for failing to provide basic necessities, including electricity, to people in the Valley. The protesters were carrying lanterns to symbolize the power woes.
