GANDERBAL: Residents of three villages of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Tuesday staged protest against PDD for allegedly not providing proper electricity to them.
People of three villages, Manigam, Wayil, Gultibagh staged a massive protest and blocked Srinagar-Leh highway at Manigam crossing by burning tyres on the highway due to which hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded.
The protesters chanted slogans against the concerned authorities for allegedly not providing them proper power supply.
The villagers of Manigam, Wayil, Gultibagh and other adjoining areas have been badly affected by power cuts and the position has worsened, local sources said.
“We have been demanding replacement of high capacity transformer in the reviving station Wayil to overcome the crisis,” Ghulam Mohammad War who headed the protesters told PTK. He added they approached the concerned authorities of PDD several times but they got nothing except assurances and promises. (PTK)
