Kashmir shuts to protest braid chopping incidents


SRINAGAR :  A complete was observed today on the call of joint Hurriyat leadership against the growing incidents of braid chopping incidents in Kashmir valley.

In Srinagar, shops and educational institutes are closed while traffic is mostly off the roads. However, a very thin movement of traffic was witnessed in parts of uptown Srinagar.

Meanwhile Government imposed restrictions in seven police station areas of Srinagar to prevent protests. According to district admin restrictions were imposed in the areas of Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Safa Kadal, Maisuma and Kralkhud.

Similar reports of complete shutdown were received from other district headquarters. In South Kashmir, reports said that a complete shutdown was witnessed. All Shops, business establishments and private offices were closed while government offices witnessed a thin attendance. Traffic was also affected. Major towns and districts of North Kashmir witnessed similar scene.

Pertinently The Joint Resistance Leadership led by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have called for a shutdown today against the “unabated braid-chopping incidents” in the Valley, calling them as an attack on the “dignity of women. (PTK)
