After braid chopping protests, forces raid, arrests several persons in Singpora Pattan

PATTAN: Residents of Singpora village of Pattan town in district Baramulla alleged that after the braid chopping protests in the area, today huge number of security forces cordon off, raids the area and resort to highhandedness.

While talking to KPS over phone they said that the security forces including Special Task Force (STF), Police, Army and Central reserve Police Force (CRPF) in huge number seized the entire village. They said that the forces start forcefully entering the houses to caught hold of male members whosoever they found. “Forces have terrorized the entire populace in the area. They thrash whosoever they found”, they told KPS.

Adding that many persons were also arrested during the raid. The some of the arrested persons were identified as, Showkat Ahmad Khan son of Mohammad Amin Khan, Fayaz Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik, Ayaz Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik, Qayoom Ahmad Bhat , son of Sanaullah Bhat and his brother.

They alleged that there were two braid chopping incidents in the areas since past three days. “We caught the braid choppers. Police took them into the custody and released them latter, which triggered protest in the area. Police lobbed tear gas shells and resort to use of brute force on protesters. Today in the morning they raids the village which is sheer injustice”, they said.
