SRINAGAR:  Peoples Democratic Party Vice President Mohmmad Sartaj Madni has said that enemosity between India and Pakistan and the resultant violence is devouring the Kashmir soul.

He rued over the loss of lives both at border and in the hinterland and said that along with this  properties perish and society gets virtually brutalized with displacements taking  out the sheen of life.

Madani said  in such a situation worst is witnessed in loss of values that would otherwise shape civilizations , the cultures and  the polity in which humanity would flourish.

Madani made a fervent appeal to  Governments of India and Pakistan to acknowledge miseries of their own people and  rise to the occasion for their sake in joining the hands for friendly relations and co-existence . He also made an appeal to people of Kashmir to extend their hand of cooperation in facilitating this course . He said if this happens we can see the days where  a revival for  a meaningful spell of reconciliation is made possible .

He said we wish that the  atmosphere of acrimony and hatred is changed into mutual understanding and positive relationships  and people are allowed to live in peace.

Madani was addressing senior party leaders , ministers and legislators and Party Zone Presidents  from South Kashmir  at Khanabal , today.

He said there is no substitute to peace and it is in the peaceful environment alone in which a solution to most intractable problems can be pursued and found. He said there is a given precedent how India and Pakistan built bridges in 2002 and exchanged pleasantries at state and peoples levels , which provided hope and space for cooperative approach to go together and progress.

Madani said Kashmir will suffer in the event of aggravated tensions between India and Pakistan. So will suffer the entire region. He said that it is because of lack of friendship and good neighbourly relations that many other powers exploit the situation and cause further trouble.

Madani said Jammu and Kashmir state has a key role to facilitate the Indo-Pak relations and PDP’s patron Mufti Mohmmad Syed had a firm belief that till the coexistence of  two neighbours the problems in the region will compound at the cost of common man.

He said that PDP’s alliance with BJP was necessitated out of his this desire and belief and he had harboured a dream that under the assertive leadership of Narinder Modi , the lurking problem of  Jammu and Kashmir would come to a positive close. “ It is PDP’s hope that much sought after objective of alliance will be accomplished in an atmosphere of peace  and agenda of alliance will soon get a desired focus.

Madani said that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has been facing several challenges . But her priority for peaceful resolution of Kashmir problem has not changed. She will fulfil all her commitments made to the people and envisaged in PDP’s agenda, he added.
