Traders’ stages protest outside civil secretariat against GST

SRINAGAR: Scores of traders under the banner of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers (KTMF) today stages a protest outside civil secretariat against the implementation of GST

To prevent President of KTMF, Muhammad Yasin Khan from leading an anti-GST protest police arrested him from his residence early in the morning and shifted him to an undisclosed location.

However traders stages a sit-in protests against the implementation of GST in the state as per programme. Police also arrested several protesting traders to foil the protest demonstration.

Traders, civil society and opposition parties have opposed the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in its present form in the state. Traders fear that the new tax regimen will erode the financial autonomy and the special status of the state, guaranteed under Article 370.
