SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik was detained on Friday in Sarai Bala area of Srinagar where he was leading a protest rally after congregational prayers.

Witnesses said that a police party detained Malik after he tried to march towards Lal Chowk along with his supporters from Iqra Masjid to protest the killing of Adil Farooq Magrey in firing by forces in Ganowpora village of Shopian earlier this week.

The joint resistance leadership has called for peaceful protests after Friday prayers against the killing of the Shopian youth.
