It pinched my heart when the former Hon’ble Minister for Education Mr. Nayeem Akhter lastly made a statement in assembly that more than two hundred schools in our state are with zero students.

It should not be taken merely by any responsible citizen of the state of our country. The question is to whom shall we credit the responsibility of failure. Putting allegations on one another won’t make the job done. It is not only the teachers, the school authorities or the higher ups which are responsible for creating mess in education system.

But, it is the education system as a whole which need to be corrected and overhauled.

There are thousands of kids  in our societies which belong to the helpless  poor families and govt. schools are the only hope of their future  and career.

Lets not forget that we all are answerable before Allah. I myself as a teacher fear of how to present myself before Allah when i will be asked about my profession, my kids and my society. The teachers must understand that their job is a prophetic job and all they are not doing justice with their profession, as our results speak louder. They have take the responsibility of their  kids on their shoulders. the teachers are the guides and it’s a teacher  who can build a nation strong one.

It is a teacher who can bring laurels to his society and nation by carving out the best personalities out of the kids which have every talent present in them.

When one looks into the education system of govt. schools, hundreds of issues strike our mind, hundred of problems are there which need to be looked keenly. Here is a glimpse of some grave issues:

 FAVORITISM AND CORRUPTION:

A lot more depends on the teachers teaching in govt. schools. When it comes to the duty, every teacher wishes to join the school which is nearby in his/ her surrounding locality, where bus fair is less, where transport facilities are good. For achieving that they can go to any extreme level. They spend money to the corrupted higher officials of the department. and get their job done. Somewhere, someday education department was regarded  as a department free of corruption but nowadays it is too much with corruption and favoritism.

There are schools where you will find eight out of ten teachers belonging to science category, there are no subject specific teachers  to teach Urdu, math’s and SST . In  other schools you will find the vice versa. For God’s sake tell me what kind of justice will be done to the students. How would a teacher of mathematics background teach Urdu and SST subject especially to higher classes  and if favoritism and corruption is eradicated from  the system, the quality of education in itself will gear up to the level we wish.

INFRASTRUCTURE:

Too much is being spend on tourism, rural development, urban development agriculture and other fields, but when it comes to education, we lack. Development is a must thing in every field, but what makes us developed in real sense  is education.

Most of our school buildings are in deteriorating condition and no body cares. why our schools don’t seem to be classrooms has been and is still a question mark. The students in our schools still sit on torrent rope mats which destroy their uniform. In the 21st century  we still write on blackboards with chalk. There are no study rooms for kids. There are certain schools where eight classes are taught in two rooms. Playgrounds to some schools are still a dream.

CONTENT AND BOOKS:

There is a tremendous urgency to revise the content, syllabus and books especially upto the primary level. When we look at the content material and books upto the primary level, we feel very sorry. The mathematics books sometimes look on English prose book. If you turn half the pages of mathematics book, its after that you will find the basic operations of mathematics .This is the story of maths book prescribed to 3rd primary. It is not only the story of maths but of every subject except Kashmiri book which has been organized in a real expertise manner.

Coming to my own experience, I have been in the department from last two and half years, when I teach maths, I ask my students to keep it inside, because its of no use to me.

CONCLUSION:

If there is a lot of money in government sector, why don’t we utilize it to correct the system, why don’t we let our school system look much brighter and developed than private schools. Why don’t we maintain the decorum of schools so that parents come in large no’s with the admission of their wards .Why don’t we hold teachers responsible for the under results. What is done to the failed teachers in the system, nothing. There are no. of questions which are asked and which have been asked. It’s the solution which we must find out. Alleging each other is not the solution.

Students of the poor family backgrounds with their innocent dreams in their innocent eyes are waiting for us. They can be the future intellectuals of our nation. Let us make their dream come true. Let us carve out personalities out of them. Let us change the system.

Let’s?
